I've noticed that many sellers on eBay.co.uk are getting quite alot of sales to Europe... I know how to edit the delivery specs to cover UK & Europe, but how do i actually attract European buyers to hopefully purchase goods from my eBay shop?

Thank you in advance,
Steve :niceone:

English, or forms of it, may be the internationally accepted language but that does not mean everyone reads it.... thousands of people here speak english but very few read english.
So how many sales are made on ebay? and how many questions are asked?... if you are getting lots of questions you should ask.... is my description enough?... accurate?... How can I avoid the questions being asked in the first place?.... the best descriptions will answer the questions, so there will be no need to ask them.
Most none english speakers appreciate the attempts you make to communicate in their language, even if its not grammatically correct or the spelling wrong or the punctuation is inaccurate.
The best way to get and keep customers is to talk to them.... not make them talk to you.
you could always try a sofware translator?

You can list on regional sites as well - eBay.de, eBay.fr etc.

Donnt you have limited protection from paypal for european or either world wide transactions though. I know some countries are a no go but i would have thought european is too much hassle

There's a lot of money to be made in EU market ("The Bulmers Story").

At least if you do not deal in very expensive electronics, mobile phones, game consoles market.

Also, from October this year un-confirmed address rule will be lifted as well as list of covered countries will increase to 190.

Another way i found to attract european buyers is to offer cheap posting. Many of my competitors overcharge on posting to europe so they can make extra profit. For example if you have a royal mail account it costs £3.56 to post a 500g item anywhere in europe. My competitors charge £9.99, I charge £4.99. Therefore I get the majority of the business. Some european customers are so used to paying high postage charges from the UK they even message me first to ask if my postal charges are correct.

as the pound drops below the horizon exports become more attractive to "foreign" buyers... imports become more expensive though

This is true, Uk ebay products are well known as too be cheaper and there is much more to find there then in ebay.be, ebay.nl or ebay.fr ...
BUT the problem is the shipping cost. The shipping charges are just too high.
And if you are planning for example to list in ebay.fr, you will have to list in in French.
As most French people dont understand English or just dont feel comfortable with english listings...
