If your seller feedback is not great then start selling items with little competition but all go for similar prices. Like the Microsoft Live cards - many sellers on here have them. That way you make little profit but you also build up your feedback very quickly.

Yep, that will work. I also started just selling stuff of mine I no longer wanted or needed to build up my feedback. You will be surprised of what your unwanted items will sell for on Ebay.

If you need that feedback fast you could even sell them at loss
Say, for example - XBox Live cards - if everyone is selling them for 25 quid, sell them for
23 and you'll earn 50 positive feedbacks in a couple of days. It will cost you maybe 100 quid or so, but you'll get high amount of feedback FAST!
Also, make sure you have "Ask for a Feedback" mechanism in place before do so, otherwise you'll lose a lot of potential feedback leavers.

Asking customers for feedback is a sure fire way of them NOT to leave feedback.

Why you say that greedyboy?
By saying "Ask for a Feedback" mechanism I didn't meant - send e-mails and ask for a feedback.
For one shop I operate, with order I send out Thank You letter (A5 size, full color, signed), where I include small gift + there's a nice graphic (like rounded positive feedback) saying that we already leaved you a positive feedback, bla, bla, bla. And I get about 85% feedback rate, which in my opinion is great.
