The thing is I'm just starting and need to build up good feedback. At this stage I figure it's better to loose a tenner than get some negative feedback.
Maybe next time I will ask for the goods to be returned.

I would simply say that, as the goods dont meet our stringent quality requirements, we will withdraw them for sale.

Please send your one back for a full refund plus postage and accepot our sincerest apologies.

Nowhere for him to go then

You should have your t+c's set out already to comply with dsr, in future simply reply they can return the item if they wish for a full refund within 7-14 days if they are not happy.

You are not giving them anything they are not entitled to do in law, whether you refund the return postage is down to yourself, personally if the item is tat I would, but then again I wouldn't sell tat in the first place.

Exactly! That's the right way to do it right now. Have been there, have done that - it hurts, a little bit but it's much better than a big, red remark in your feedback history which is very small at the moment.

You learn all the time! Next time this won't happen as you'll from now on include full Returns policy in your listings.

I've not mentioned it to him as the other customers seem happy so far.
If I get anymore negative comments then I will see what he thinks.
