I'll put it to the test, i'll figure out how to do some designs on and see if I sell more. It might take awhile though, not very computer minded.
Thanks for the replies

Popcorn, bader is not a word, and what item are you talking about, the item being "bader" or the page being "bader"?

This doesn't make sense at all...
When looking @ buyer's psychology yo have to separate yourself and try to look at the whole picture in general- what majority of buyers would do? What makes you more money?
I think it's not a question whatever professionally designed template WITH good looking layout & formatting (Very Important! Many miss out this!) increases sales.
If it looks good in buyers eyes, it automatically gives you some credibility points - which is essential in closing the deal.

Re: Does it really matter
Try using auctiva its a great ebay selling tool. You can use free templates for all kinds of categories and also have automated feedback. The best thing about it is that when using the auctiva checkout you can integrate nochex. i have heard other mrchant accounts can also be integrated. However the downside is that ebay will be changing all this in the new year

Re: Does it really matter
It may be different according to what items your selling, but a few months back I did a bit of a survey about what made them buy from me above other sellers on ebay. It was only about 40 customers over a couple of days, so it's not really that accurate, but it went like this.
1. Price
2. Reputation e.g good feedback/powerseller
3. Speed of delivery
4. Free delivery
5. More proffesional image, layout etc.
6. Longer warranty
43% of people said price. So if someone else is selling the same thing, you need to try & beat them on price, if you can afford it. If you can't then I would get all the other 5 options the best they can be. Then later on, once you have got a bit of buying power put the squeeze on your suppliers as much as possible so you can compete on price too.
You have to be careful competeing just on price alone though as you can find yourself working too hard for little return. I will drop down to a minimum of 25% mark up after all the costs/overheads have been taken off. I will never drop any lower than that even if I am getting beaten.
