Question What happen if customers do not pay?

Hello everyone,
I listed an item on ebay and a customer won the bid. However he does not pay for the item. I sent him an invoice and remind him twice. It has been almost 4 days so I'm pretty sure he won't pay for the item. My question is, ebay has charged final value fee on that item, in case he wont pay after all, can I get FVF back?

You have to file an Unpaid Item Dispute (you can do this only after 7 days of the auction end, except the buyer is no longer registered on eBay).

If then he doesn't reply to dispute in 10 days, you can request a Final Value Fee credit.

Did you say in the auction that goods must be paid for immediately?

It may be that he has simply gone on holiday - 4 days isnt very long

Stating in your listing that items must be paid for immediately or within 3 days,4 days or whatever isn't really any use because as Andy777 correctly states the buyer has 7 days to pay up before you the seller can open an unpaid item dispute. You can of course request that payment be made within a certain time but at the end of the day the buyer has 17 days in total before ebay will refund your FVF and take action against the buyer.

To be honest 4 days isn't very long in my experience, as hardwareheros says he could be on holiday or sick or something or simply doesn't realise he/she has won an auction. Some people make bids not really expecting to win and forget all about it.

If your selling at a fixed price you can set your listing so that payment must be made immediately which is what I tend to do so as you dont have to wait for payment and/or start chasing people for money.

I have had buyers onn trademe not pay for 6 or 7 days. I always pay as soon as I get the payment instructions, sellers love me lol. But yeah, try getting his number from ebay and ringing him, give him a fair chance.

Yes you will if you have a recent transaction with them.

Go to

Advanced Search --> Find Contact Information

and put in the auction number and their ID and eBay will send an email to both of you with each other's contact information, including phone number.
