Hi

I got sent this message from a user on e bay can anyone please advise or help me

I can see that you are selling these ashtrays and numerous other new items. I can also see that you are not registered as a business seller. As you will be aware, if you are buying stock to sell then you should be registered as a business seller on ebay and also registered with the Tax people.
Think its only fair to let you know that i will be submitting your ebay user id to tax evasion hotline . co. uk . If you are already registered with them, then i do apologise. If not, then its only fair on other business sellers on here that they are aware of your activities.

i make about £1 on every item i sell not even that on some items i just like selling on there help please e-bay user i.d icemanste

Regardless of the volume you're selling, you must declare it.

I don't know what will happen if that seller does report you, but I would strongly suggest contacting HMRC yourself and sorting it out.

You shouldn't have to pay a great deal in tax anyway, if anything at all.

Reply telling him that you are registered as self employed, then tell him to politely do one.

I doubt tax would come down hard on you for selling a few ash trays on ebay, they should be more concerted with the 50,000+ powersellers who are not VAT registered and not paying tax either.

That guy has no right telling YOU what to do. I can imagine him as being a bored old man, sits in front of the internet all day and think he is some kind of policeman for HMRC. If someone came up to me and said that I would LAMP him one.

Maybe he's a competitor pissed off because he has to pay tax and this guy doesn't.

The PowerSeller Forum is full of people like this. Although you should be registered as a business, they obviously have nothing better to do than try and run the competition out of town.

I gave up comparing my prices and products with the competition a long time ago. It will just drive you and your profits in to a wooden box, 6 foot under.
