does anyone have any tips for photographing pearls please? I can capture the beauty of most of my gemstones but pearls either come out totally white or show none of their lustre, I have day light table top lamps and they make pearls look like alabaster! and shooting in natural daylight in the garden is no better, I can't get the lustre...am so fed up and thinking of not making anything in pearls any more but not many brides want to walk down the ailse in Black Onyx! lol.
any tips please?

Hi Jan
A few tips for photographing pearls you could try are....
Use a dark background, preferablly black and photograph the pearls from an angle rather than from over head.
Photographing many things from the side at a slight angle can help reduce reflection.
Another way to try is to get an empty plastic, frosted milk carton, ideally the large size. Cut the bottom of the bottle off and cut the top so your camera lense fits inside and place the bottle over your item, then photograph the item through the top of the bottle. This method acts as a difuse filter frosting the strong light. Is best done in natural light. Try these methods it may work.

I feel like I should work for this company, but this product called Blingit is the best for any kind of pictures you take. You can take out the background completely or put your own picture in the back ground. You can add shadows and stamp it with your own logo. I redid all my photos on my site and some of them you would think I was pro at it. I'm on my free 15 day trial but I will buy it when the trial is done.

You can upload your images here. That isn't a problem.

When posting, scroll down below the submit button and you will see a button called 'Manage Attachments' - here you can upload your photos and supply them as attachments to your posts.

You then do not have to worry about your images being removed from third party providers, we'll host it right here in the thread for you.
