Hi,

Does anyone know how effective email marketing is.

I was thinking of buying an email list of 1,000,000 addresses and once a week or so emailing then offering Ebooks or something cheap like that.

Would those be consented email lists? Or just a collection of email addresses that spam bots have gathered?

It is an Opt-In List that is split into catergories such as Business, sport etc etc. So Obvoicsly I would need to send relevent offers to each catergorie.

Its just im wondering if there is a good uptake on email offers, or is everyone the same as me and just delete them

If it is truly an 'opted in' list then the emails are pretty targetted and the people are looking for the information that you intend to target them with and as such you will probably find that they are quite effective (depending on your copy writing skills)...

Usually, not all, these so called 'opted in' lists are scraper lists..ie. bot gathered or were built using incentives and the majority of sign ups used throwaway addy's.

Email marketing CAN be effective provided the list is reliable and that you email provider/host allows you to use that many mail outs...a million offers (or even 500,000) will put some strain on most servers.

Hi,

I am not able to use my provider mail server for this many outgoing email so I was planning on using postcast server or similar to turn my PC its its own mail server.

Suppose the best thing to do is buy the list and give it a try. Probably wont send the million to start with as this is a very large amount, and im not to sure if the autoresponder will be able to handle that many orders (I will be using the responder to send orders out automatically)
