Took a call from eBay this morning. They told me they are planning on making every seller offer free shipping. They were getting the opinions of all the top sellers before they rolled it out.

I told them it was a good idea when shipping within the UK, but they would have to allow sellers to make a charge when shipping outside the UK.

this really isnt a good idea, what about sellers who sell heavy items they will not want to offer free P+P and if they have to im sure they will just include the price in there item. for example to post a pair of trainers via next day delivery it will cost around £8.50 this is propally what the seller makes on them or around that amount to me this is a bad idea.

okay then since you know it all. but i no for a fact that your wrong and of course you have probally never sold a pair on ebay before.. as ive been selling them for months and i went to the post office yesterday infact and Nexy day special delivery came to £8.25. the sellers are not going to put £8 on postage charge as it will drive buyers away they will just make it up in there item price.

This is a bad idea, as it means auctions will no longer start from 99p incase no one bids on the item and it sells for less than the postage charge.

Another problem is the FVFs have increased recently and this is another way to ensure they make as much FVF as possible...even in the postage charges, whereas this wasn't included in the past.

Ebay really are going all out to claim practically every penny from sellers, as if it wasn't hard enough to make a profit these days.

ADC mind if I ask how much feedback / powerseller level you have on eBay?

As you said it was top sellers - I get the feeling that they may try to make powersellers of a certain level and beyond have free postage...

I also got this call, well an email but I also said the same, would not matter to me as I always offer free shipping, but I do deal in small packages so this is fine to me but international should still be allowed to be charged.

Ah good old eBay, making it easier and easier for sellers in every passing month.

I'm glad I boycotted them ages ago. Business is a lot more successful too.

Seriously people, you do not need eBay.
