They will follow up with the debt collector as well, and send threatening letters if your balance does not return into the positive after a specific amount of time.

I believe they could take the money directly from your account as it is linked but this would ruffle a few feathers and create even more disputes in my opinion so they just put it in a minus and await further funds to increase it back to zero.

Im pretty sure they cant take it from your account directly - I mean you could always cancel the direct debit with your bank so they have no ties with your account any more.

I was just wondering how far they go when your account is in a minus standing. How long do they give you to sell items and put that money back into your acount?

Hey guys,

did you get this issue resolved,

I closed my PayPal account a few weeks ago and now a buyer filed a claim after they had left me positive feedback, they now say the item is not as described, PayPal kept asking me information but because my account was closed i couldn't Log in to provide information, Now the buyer has won the claim and I got an email from PayPal saying my account is in negative even though my account has been closed.

what do you think will happen now? the buyer has got a free phone and i'm left with a negative paypal account thats closed?

will they take the money out my bank or send debt collectors around? abit worried now.

any advise would be great.

I have -£80 in my paypal account, They also charge you £7 for "fighting" the chargeback for you.
Paypal have sent a debt collector after me, I have the money to pay but will not pay it out of principle.
I will pay it when Paypal provide me with proof of debt, or show me the credit agreement that I haven't signed.

It took about 2 months. The debt collector seems to have given up, although they have probably passed this back to Paypal to try another one.
