ebay accounts/bookkeeping???
Hi all,
I've been trading on eBay about 2 months now and still have not sorted out a proper bookkeeping system, I've got Quickbooks Basic downloading at the moment so will look at that, but my question is... If I'm selling using "But It Now" and I've listed say 5 itmes and only 3 of them sell, how do a figure the ebay listing fees for the accounts.
I'm not sure if I should be kepping recors of every individual item sold or say 5 of the same item i have sold.
What I'm asking may sound very stupid to you lot, but its kinda confusing me .
If none of this makes sense please tell me and will try and explain it better.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Re: ebay accounts/bookkeeping???
every individual item would be better, also if you list on buy it now you are only charged 1 listing fee anyway, then you are charged a fvf everytime a item sells. unless you relist then that would be another fee, also i just use an excel spread sheet, detailing the cost of item , how much it sells for etc,

Re: ebay accounts/bookkeeping???
Thanks for the reply, I know I only get charged once for listing multiple items, that's the point though. I don't know how to record that in the accounts if I don't sell all of the items in the 'Buy It Now'., and I want them to be accurate.
Or does it not matter if there not 100% accurate

I would sack Quickbooks off mate and just use an excel spreadsheet. If your not selling massive amounts each day you could easily do all the summary work in a spreadsheet and then put a bank rec together.
Using this you could pull out your P&L and BS

If your self employed i.e. trading with the aim of making profit, or Ltd Company. Then you must keep records to disclose your income to HMRC
