Of all the complaints I and my friends have - it is about sellers who rip you off on p/p!
I have just has this happen today (well nearly I did not bid in the end).
I asked for combined shipping on several items I wantd to buy from this seller.
He offered to knock 50p off - so the p/p would have come to £10.99 for 4 items totalling £7.99.
I have done a quick check on the Royal Mail calculator and the cost should have been about £4.20..alllow some extra for wrapping.
Why do sellers do this?
He has lost a good sale.
It is sad the good honest sellers will end up loosing out over the rip off merchants - especially when profit margins are so tight in some areas anyway.

For a start on the surface they'll look cheaper when buyers are skimming the listings, not all buyers will read the listings carefully enough to realise they're being screwed.

If everything goes to plan expect to see a new auction site within the next month or 2.
It will also be offing FREE, yes FREE standard listing for regular TWF members.

Re: Big changes ahead for sellers
I think that Ebay has far less buyer these days - as many items end up with 1 bid only, or not sold.
I used to (well still do) collect certain dog breed items off Ebay.
Not so long ago items I have paid (just for an example) paid £50.00 - are now being listed for £10.00 or less with NO bidders. Some of my doggy friends have ended up with great pressies because of this drop in prices.
I think the early sellers on Ebay made a killing -I think that as buyers we realise it will come around again - and probably cheaper if we are prepared to wait. Nothing these days, because of Ebay, is rare!!

Re: Big changes ahead for sellers
It looks like the best way to go is sell your small stuff through ebay and find other channels to sell the big stuff.

Re: Big changes ahead for sellers
This generally only effects me on the clothing part, but I don't ever tend to sell accessories which the Free P&P is aimed at.
But I can see a lot of problems for many with things like video games, mobile phone bits, and the gadgets section. Although with things like video games, a lot of people are doing free P&P anyway to get the edge on all the competitors.

Re: Big changes ahead for sellers
Why are eBay stating sellers must offer free P&P??
Its because P&P is not subject to eBay fee's!
By making P&P free, sellers have no option but to factor the cost of P&P into the item price, pushing the item price up a little. This means, when the item sells, the total cost is subject to eBay fee's - meaning more money for eBay!!
Then you get shafted again with PayPal fee's.
Im starting to move away from eBay now - its a complete rip off. Just more ways for them to make more from people's small profits!
