Amazon Vs Ebay
Hi
With all the changes that are to be imposed on us this year and the ever increasing charges does this mean amazon is to become a better bet. If so do any of you guys use both and how do they compare ?

Re: Amazon Vs Ebay
At the end of the day it all comes down to the numbers - if you can make more money on Amazon, go with it! If you can make more money on eBay - stay there! If you can do both - Great!
For some product categories Amazon can offer a better ROI but for majority of stuff - eBay or your own website is still your best bet.

Re: Amazon Vs Ebay
I use both,
do loads and loads of business on Amazon and a litle on ebay. Things work different for different people, for u sAmazon works better, $for many Ebay works better. What I would say is Amazon is not for par timers who want to play at making a bit on the side. You need a good solid infrastructure in place because customers are a lot harder to please than on ebay. Also Amazon allow an order defect ratio of only 1%. That means only 1 in ever 100 orders is allowed a claim or negative feedback.
The biggest issue for us though is cashflow. They pay out once a fortnight, it causes real headaches sometimes. Because we don't have endless working capital but our turnover is very high (we turnover our working capital every month) by the end of the fortnight things can be getting very tight indeed.

Re: Amazon Vs Ebay
Hi
I have just listed my first couple of items , seems a little confusing but sure I will get to grips with it soon. Have noticed that a couple of sellers have what seems to be a shop of sorts ,how does that work as I seem to find the help pages hard work. Any info would be great

Re: Amazon Vs Ebay
Hi gtspeed,
Yes ebay interface might seem confusing in the beginning, but you will soon get a grip on it.
Here is what you need to follow when you start out on ebay:
- Do not start selling with 0 fb. Since ebay aggregates both buying/selling fb, you can initially purchase a few items to bring up your fb score.
- Use good resolution images, keywords in title, and fill in AS MUCH of item specifics as possible (ebay likes this)
- Once you pick up sales, you might consider getting your shop designed by good professionals and then decide on a selling strategy to optimize your ebay business.
This forum is a great place for information, be it starters or for powersellers.
Cheers!
