Default eBay Shop

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can talk from experience on whether having an eBay shop can increase hits / sales?

Yes, it can

* If you sell related items, many people will click on the icon (next to your user ID) and take a look what else you sell.

* You can also insert links (graphical banners for example) in every listing driving traffic to your Shop.

* If done properly, you can also attract search engine visitors via Google for example.

Also, an eBay Shop can help you with Branding strategy, increase average order size etc.

Thanks Andy, that's what I thought but good to get advice from people who know. Been thinking about setting one up for the last month or so and I think I am going to go for it. Though I have a store outside of eBay because my business is relatively new i'm finding it hard to drive traffic there, currently spending money on afvertising which doesnt seem to be having much effect so I'm thinking it's time to build myself up more on eBay and concentrate on driving traffic to the store later.

Well going from the point of view of the buyer, I'm a heavy ebay shopper and when I find an ebay shop that directs you to an outside website for selling products I do like to see what's on offer. Therefore I would say ebay definitely helps with advertising. I've found several great websites through ebay.

Yeah that's what I'd be hoping for, free advertisement as well as a good shop platform in hope I can gain repeat custom.

Does anyone know if the basic 15quid a month shop allows you to edit the storefront header with your own HTML? I've seen this done on many shops and I think it's quite effective.

You should be able to edit your storefront header with a basic shop. However if you are going to put your website address on it I'd check ebay's rules very carefully. As far as I am aware you can only put your website on your about me page, and I don't think you can even say that its cheaper than ebay. Ebay are very strict about where any website address is placed and even how its presented.
