Good luck with it but as I said - it's a waste of time and money!

I think all of us would like a real alternative to eBay but no body has done it right yet. The auction site does not have to reinvent the wheel. Paypal with all its problems is the key to Ebay success. You have to have the capital to advertise like Bing.com has done. Another auction site with out serious promotion will be "worth less"

Hi

Imo i think you would find it hard to compete with other auction sites such as Ebay.
To give it a go you would need a LOT of money and even then i think you would be blown out of the water, dont forget ebay have a massive advertising budget and as poor as they are on customer service and everything they are part of a lot of peoples lives now, its hard to force change and would be hard to initially get people to sell/buy on any site let alone use it long term.
Maybe a few years ago you could have had a chance ( with a large budget!) but for noe i think ebay has it all sewn up, Until they pop.
I do know of some smaller success stories but as mentioned above these sites are specific on what they sell rather than the generic approach and some people i know make a few quid from them, but bare in mind these were set up years ago and have slowly built a customer base in their respective markets.
I think on a small scale you could have a great looking site, local advertising (for what its worth) with a fantastic launch but imo it would be short lived.
Nothing ventured nothing gained so good luck if you take a punt.

what if we all advertised around our local area...shops, papers......we must have a vast selection of members all over the world....the no fees would attract hundreds if thousands.
