Hey everyone,

Is there anyway you can get somesort of discount on ebay costs as it is not possible to compete wth peoples prices without making a loss. I recently bought 20 xbox live memberships and started selling them on ebay forgeting about the costs and when i worked it out i was losing 10p per card:mad: after paypal and ebay take there fees!!!! When i increase the prices i cant sell them!!!

Thanks

Sell lots and become a powerseller - you then get a discount off the fees - not sure it would make all that difference to you though

The issue you have with Ebay is that you need to sell volume and get up to a power seller status where you get discounts on your fees. Also once you start moving high volume amounts of money through paypal they lower the fees for accepting payments.

If you are just selling x box live cards you are going to struggle and i would suggest you look for somrthing else to complement them. You will find there are dropshippers if you do not have the money to buy stock straight off.

Also look at an ebay shop as the listing fees drop with a shop but you need to be selling enough to cover the fee for the shop.

Ebay is now sadly about volume sellers and if you want to sell small quantity or low value items you will struggle to compete with the big buyers.

I would suggest that you do your reasearch on other sellers on ebay and offer something they dont. Also get a template for your listings it will make a big diffrence so do ending times and listing times as well as catagory.

Get a Credit card with high Cashback. There are some that offer 5% cashback up to £2,000. If you can use it to buy your products, it helps offset the price.

Ive just started off selling mp3 players at the moment. Originally wanted to concentrate on selling health products (protein, creatine etc.) but couldnt find them anywhere so now want to sell electronic products.

mati120,

Just don't sell wrong products @ prices you can't afford! Period.

You should really put more effort into market research.

Might be worth setting yourself up with an eBay calculator to work out exactly what your returns will be?
