There are rumours that the policies on Ebay are about to be changed, once(if) they take effect then I will update the article and let the forum know. Anyone not using Ebays traffic to further their own websites traffic (doesn't even have to sell anything) are missing out.

My about me page offers a link to an article/mini ebook relevant to the product in question which happens to be posted on my site, this is then downloaded and is not quite 100% complete...to get the rest the reader follows a link from within the mini ebook that takes them to a another page of information on my site and which is also a carefully structured sales/capture page

So would you agree that watermarking the images with your domain name is possibly the best way to go, that way every one viewing your auctions is aware of your domain as its staring you in the face. Also if there are multiple large images remotely hosted then they cannot fail to notice.

This seems too good to be true anybody using this technique at the moment.

Watermarking can be good, not necessarily the best way. Ebay has some rules but following them can reap better rewards than just simply going for the blatant 'in yer face' approach that thousands of sellers try.

Offer an additional information resource for example and watch your conversions jump...

Smile watermarking

Hi there, have been attacked twice now by some joker called who goes by the name of john Hamiltion of the jthgroup.co.uk. He claims to wk for the major retailers like arcadia group etc and is like brand name policing the web on their behalf? Anyway i dod some digging having received threatening emails through ebay and he is a one man band in the midlands who seems like some vigilante to me! He signs up to Ebay then sends the fear of god up you with a really harsh email threatening legal action etc. Now if you have purchased items with brand names from wholesales, the assumption as a consumer is that the retailer themselves have farmed it out to them themselves (cabbaging) therefore why would they hire some no-mark to police to find out who and where they are then being sold. makes no sense to me..anyone else heard of this guy or similar???
Also Musthave, being a technophone, how do i watermark my images on ebay, having been rollocked i want to do something subtle and not try tricks to drag clicks off ebay, i know i am being targetted not just by this joker but also ebay remove my listings at the drop of a hat for no reason.
Also when a listing is reported is there a way as a seller you can find out who by?
Thanks in advacne, your articles are great!

Simple use a paint program and insert text into the image, there are also watermarking programs available which will add the professional touch. Just make sure you don't obscure to much detail.

Copyright in a description shouldn't be a major issue unless you are claiming some direct link to the manufacturer etc.

No way of finding out who reported you for obvious reasons..
