I have noticed that there is a huge number of Chinese sellers on uk eBay.

Do you think this is good for the uk based seller. If you have a look at their purchase history they are taking such a huge cut of the business.

My personal view is that China based sellers should be allowed to sell on eBay, but at the moment they are completely filling up the first few pages of the particular items I have researched. What should happen is when a seller isn't based in the UK they should be put down the listing like it does when you don't offer free postage.

I wouldn't expect my listings to appear on the first page on Aussie eBay or Italian eBay for example.

What does everyone else think?

I think it sucks but most people get round this by clicking the UK only box.

They always list in the wrong category too, e.g. an mp3 sock in the mp3 player category!

This has been going on for years - chineese will always beat most people on prices focus on other aspects such as customer service and shipping should get you the sales - although agreed they will get the majority of the business

So do most people click the 'UK Only' box. Because if the purchase history of the Chinese sellers listings are anything to go by I would say 75% of people don't!

It is extremely frustrating. Do you think that eBay will ever do anything about this?

With the new system eBay are starting, low DSRs will be getting a lot lower on the searches. Because China and HK usually get a low DSR for dispatch time and delivery cost you will see them drop right out of it. (I hope)

You have to click the UK only box to filter out the UK sellers, but remeber there are millions of buyers on ebay - you just have to keep plugging away - if you beleive your product is better get it on featured first it will then come at around the top of the page. Ebay is a business the more sellers who sell = more money they don't really care although few have mentioned regarding new chnages coming up could affect chineese sellers.

not sure.

Let me find some examples.

ok take these guys for example

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Black-Leather-...4.c0.m14.l1262

look at the shipping info. Despatched from uk in 48hrs but will take 4-9 business days?

and this one, they use the same template

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pink-iPod-Touc...d=p3286.c0.m14

there's loads of these in the accessories market on ebay. thats why we pulled out and couldn't be bothered anymore.
