Hey guys,

Bit of a problem, so il try make it a bit short as i cant wrap my head around it.

Basically i bought a i9 3G from quad-band-phones on here to use while i waited on my new contract to come threw. Anyways i listed it on ebay and a guy won but didnt pay but apologised as he won another phone at the same time. Fair enough.

So relisted and a guy bought it for £62.01 to be precise and £4.99 postage.=£68

Now he says the charger does not work (even though i only used it once) i still checked it before sending out. He now wants to return it but has put in a paypal claim straight away. Thats not a problem, but what is,

He wants £68 refund? Well thats rubbish because he paid £4.99 for postage that it cost me to send, And i clearly state buyer pays return postage. So hes due the phone cost isnt he of £62.01 and not £68.

Sorry an essay but im fuming and need some help please. Thanks

Have had this with Paypal before and there is nothing you can do about it.

I'm not even sure that just because you say 'buyer pays return postage' that they have to by law, infact I dont think they have to return it at all but just make it available for you to arrange collection.

I would not say it was unreasnable to ask for you to foot the postage cost of it going out if it has arrived faulty.

I would calm down a little and await it's return if it is not faulty then take it up with paypal and the buyer.

If it is faulty then refund his money and move on.

But this is the sort of thing you need to plan into your profit that you will get returns and as a buyer (and i am sure you will agree) if you bought something online and it arrived faulty would you want to make sure you are not out of pocket by a penny ???

Hi aslong as you state its upto buyer to return item you only have to pay the postage 1 way. according to the long distance selling thing.

Thats an option but iv given my address now and cant see him backing out.

Plus he bought another phone to replace it. So its basically useless to him now.

Unfortunately the postage should reallu be your problem is the item is faulty.

I do the same as you where I don't refund postage unless fault. If buyer wants to exchange then postage is there responsibility.

If I was you I'd agree to refund postage costs once item returns with you and you test it. If it is faulty then refund postage because it's not worth the hassle, If it works fine and the buyer just trying to state a fault rather than be honest over aa change of mind of the product then refuse to refund postage.
