New Unpaid Item process now operational
Good news should help with scammers..

We would like to remind all members that the new unpaid Item process is now in effect.
Sellers can now open an unpaid item case 4 days after the sale takes place. If a buyer still does not pay for an item after a further 4 days, the case can then be closed. At that point, a seller can get a refund of their final value fee and the buyer is no longer able to leave feedback on the transaction.
Buyers are reminded to pay for their items promptly. If buyers are unable to do so, they should contact the seller.
Click here for more information about the new unpaid item process on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie
Regards,
The eBay Team

Re: New Unpaid Item process now operational
Thats good news. Still never got my head around why people would buy and then wait 2 weeks to pay.

Re: New Unpaid Item process now operational
Already had to use it recently for someone who took 9 days to pay me £1.99
They paid some 36hrs after the case was opened....

Re: New Unpaid Item process now operational
Good news for a change! Hated the way the buyer could leave negative feedback even if they hadn't paid.

Re: New Unpaid Item process now operational
about time too. Having to wait 8 days before opening an unpaid item dispute and then a further 7 days before being able to close it was a bloody joke.

Re: New Unpaid Item process now operational
I also agree it is a God send. I hate listing auctions as you can't force an immediate PayPal payment. The amount of none paying bidders we have had is 23 according to Ebay in "My cases closed and I received a final value fee". (44 cases altogether but the others paid, and probably within 24-72 hours from what I can remember). Just pisses you off!! Everyone knows after the 3rd day only 1% ever do pay!!!
I have since turned to 99% BIN forcing my customers to pay immediately via PayPal.
This does not really change that situation but at least it speeds up the process to a more respectable level.
