I think I have found a niche market, now I need to see if I
can get my hand on the stuff.
I came across something today that made me think,
I've already had a look on ebay and there's not many selling
what I'm looking at.
The only thing I need to figure out now is if there's a big enough
demand for the niche I'm looking at.

Offer a unique listing, make a title that will bring you traffic, using a subtitle is also a easy way to attract attention using *'s at the beginning and end of listing titles can also generate volumes of traffic.

But the smallest touches make the biggest different, the more effort you put in the listing the more it will pay off. Offer things like 100% guarantees etc.

i wouldnt reccomend putting ****'s at the beginning and end of your title. the title is for keywords use ALL the space provided to you

Hiy,

I've just come across this discussion and I can't believe it. Some time ago I was going to sell some perfumes on ebay. I found a supplier, got his price list and started calculating. I wanted to sell as a private seller since I didn't have any feedback. So I created a spreadsheet in OpenOffice and found out that I couldn't make any money. When I added 15% vat, then listing fees, paypal fees and everything and summed it all up I realised if I'd sold it I'd have made on average 30% loss.
So how can you do that?

Then I read this post:

As stated previously price is not everything. If you are looking to be the cheapest then chances are you wont be around for long.
I rarely check competitors prices.I list at a price that i am happy with, a price that makes me profit.
I am not the cheapest on Ebay and certainly not the cheapest when it comes to the same products purchased outside of Ebay yet peolpe still buy.
It sort of encourages me again, moreover my employer seriously annoyes me and I'm really desperate to work for myself but it's gonna by quite risky to buy some items knowing that I can only make money pricing my products at rrp while others have prices well below rrp.

Regards,
Simon

If you've said all the keywords necessary, then *'s make the title bigger and attract more attention I reckon.

I mean if you've got 3 spare characters and you can't think of anything to put, put 3 *'s on the end.

I don't know if the guys on here will agree with me, but its like anything what you put in you get out.

I am intending to start my own on line business with the hope of packing in my day job, so with that motivation i need it to succeed, even if i have to have a part time mundane job.

For the past 2 months i have been reading, absorbing, bought books, learning and pestering peeps on the forums. I have bought domain names and considering templates, ebay stores, packaging, postal costs, additional software etc etc and i haven't even sold anything....yet

Reason being is i want to do it right from the off, i have been in customer services in some form or other since i was 17. From retail through to support desks, in all that time i have learnt professionalism and good service counts for a lot. You don't have to be the cheapest to make money, consumers will pay an extra few pounds if they can rely on your service.

I am away for 2 weeks hols from Friday and i have got 3 books to take with me, i will be lying on a beach with the local beer researching my project. If you get the front end right the rest should follow ... i am hoping
