Is it possible for a new person to start making money on ebay?
Is it possible for a new person to start making money on ebay? Ebay is flooded now with alot of sellers selling very cheap items, all at the same price you want to sell your item for, so somehow you have to compete with them which is near impossible because there is so many of them.
anyone got any good tips?

Re: is it possible?
I think it is possible but not without a lot of hard work and commitment. You need to offer something that the others dont. Offer a top class service which will get you glowing feedback and make customers want to come back to you again and again.
As stated above try to find niche markets, though it might seem hard it is possible just do your homework. Don't just follow trends try be original and source unique products.

Re: is it possible?
Its not always about being the cheapest, great feedback, customer service and a good returns policy is the key to success.

Re: is it possible?
I am not sure if there is such a thing as 'niche' market nowadays. If anyone has managed to find it, good for them. 'Niche' is a very annoying word!
Lots of people will tell you that you can't compete on price only. Yet, pricing is really very important especially on ebay. Providing superb service is not that hard if you put yourself to the end customer's mentality - treat them as you like to be treated.
All being in place, the rest is down to price. Try to put the price in the middle range. If you still think you can make money, which is likely to be determined by your buying price, then go for it.

Re: is it possible?
Making money on Ebay is the easy part.Making serious money thats another ball game
As stated previously price is not everything. If you are looking to be the cheapest then chances are you wont be around for long.
I rarely check competitors prices.I list at a price that i am happy with, a price that makes me profit.
I am not the cheapest on Ebay and certainly not the cheapest when it comes to the same products purchased outside of Ebay yet peolpe still buy.

Re: is it possible?
I am trying to open an ebay account now, I believe you can make money if you care both the price and the quality for your customer. You know a lot of customers still get products at a high price, because they don't have a good supplier. So what you need to do first is to find a good supplier.

Re: Is it possible for a new person to start making money on ebay?
Selling individual, unique, items. I buy from house clearances & auctions old, collectable & vintage stuff. It is labour intensive, but the mark up is high, often well over 100%.
Don't think there's many openings for big money in the electrical/electronic/IT consumer field.

There's one thing many newbies do not realize - you have to LEARN something to be good @ it!
You can't just walk in eBay, list "something", "somehow", for "something" and hope to make millions. It's not that easy. You have to have some kind of basic understanding on how e-commerce, eBay and business in general works. Read this forum, blogs etc. and improve your knowledge!
Once you do this, you won't ask questions like these
Andy
P.S. Everything is possible in life, it would be the same to ask - can I become a millionaire? What answer do you expect? Sure you can! But the question is - will you?....

Andy,
I think you have really hit the nail on the head there. If it was easy to be a success on Ebay then everyone would be making loads of money. It takes alot of hard work and time.
