Hi folks,

I'm looking into creating a web site and thought I'd ask for your opinion on who's the best for web hosting and also for registering a domain name. I'm in the US, don't know if that makes a difference.

thanks in advance

As your in the US then I would recommend GoDaddy, there good for both domains and hosting. I've only used them for domains..

Take a look at: WebHostingTalk - They review all the hosting companies and have also a great forum full of reviews and advice.

Please do carry on your discussion here too though

they have a 24/7 live chat which is very very handy.

Choosing a host with servers in the US is probably the best bet for you so that latency to the server is as low as possible meaning your pages will load faster for the majority of your customers. That is assuming you are selling to people in the US.

Apart from that shop around, there are loads of good deals to be had.

www.hosthideout.com is another place to look aswell as webhostingtalk.

I use Clook.net and have nothing but praise for them. They have servers here in the UK and also in the US.

Interested on your thoughts on latency...do you really think it makes any difference apart from when dealing with heavy load sites like gaming sites etc? Surely the bounce of against latency versus cost is worth what latency you may see by hosting in the US?

Mike..

I dont think latency is eally noticeable with general sites. Its only game servers and big download sites that will really notice the difference..
