Hi

I am looking at making my own website at the moment just a sauce of information really not to sell at the moment.

I would like to have a website with information on about 50-100 pages could I have a forum on the same domain name? With betterwebspace for instance the website with all the information on called www.nuttyswebsite.co.uk and also have a forum uploaded onto it from phpBB on the same website?

i was thinking of using a phpBB

123-Reg is best for domains, but not best for hosting, so you really need to do it in 2 or 3 parts tot get best value for money!

You can have a forum and a website on one domain name.

www.yourdomain.co.uk/index

www.yourdomain.co.uk/forum

Or something like the above, Or

www.forum.yourdomain.co.uk

It's as simple as pointing the domain to your hosters nameservers.

BetterWebSpace provide a guide so you shouldn't have a problem.

Well if you are buying your domain name from 123-reg you simply purchase the domain from them and NO hosting.

Then goto BWS, order some hosting using the "I will use My Existing Domain and update My Nameservers only" option, then when your invoice comes through for the hosting it will inform you which name servers you should point the domain to. It will be in the format: ns1.nameservers.com // ns2.nameservers.com (or usually this is the case).

After that you simply goto 123-reg and update the nameservers by entering in the nameserver details as provided by your host. This option is found in your 123-reg control panel under the domain management. Then its a case of waiting and letting the domain and server migrate (or propagate) - This is updating all the information that allows the domain and hosting to integrate with each other. Finally once the domain has propagated you can then setup/build your website.

Feel free to stop by and ask any further questions you require help with or just email Keiron at BWS directly..

HTH..
