One thing to remember with hosting is that cheapest isn't always the best - it's an area that you often really do get what you pay for. I'm not saying pay over the odds, but make sure you thoroughly research the hosts you look at, and see if you can take a look at some "real" sites that are already running on their servers to make sure that everything is working at a reasonable speed.

Another thing to check out is the support side of things. Before you sign up for anything, ask several questions and see how prompt and full the answers you get are. If the service is rubbish pre-signup then it doesn't bode well for support later on.

Worth spending a bit if time on

Ali.

I would register your domain over at 123-reg, hosting from BWS, and some web design from maybe Vengavenga or grab a template from template monster.

Ask away if you have any more specifics..

I'll second that - I've used 123reg for several years now and have never had a problem with them ... very cheap as well

Their customer service isn't great though to be perfectly honest. I sent them upwards of 10 emails and didn't get a reponse until around 2 or 3 weeks later.

Apparently it was mail server issues but that was my expereince with them. Can't fault the value for money and service they offer however..

I also recommend BetterWebSpace for hosting deals, he is cheap but his service is second to none and the uptimes you will se are brilliant. All my sites are hosted with him and I do not have any issues.

www.123reg.co.uk for .co.uk names and www.godaddy.com for .coms..

I have heard good thinbgs about vengavenga, afew members have sites designed and populated by him/them..

can I recommend http://www.rentacart.co.uk/

I know these companies come a dime a dozen, but I went with them for the £40 one off yearly payment, also they provide a shared SSL certificate too
