my 2 options are....

1. to send a copy of every code out by recorded delivery so paypal will cover me against chargebacks

2. find a payment solution that will deliver my codes automatically and protect me against chargebacks as they have sent the codes on my behalf or have a service such as ejunkie that will send the codes for me but give online proof to the payment service so i will not suffer consequences of chargebacks and not have to spend valuable profit on postage for a slip of paper the size of a credit card

any suggestions would be useful:niceone:

ok so i have been selling xbox live codes and thanks to the scammers i have almost lost a full weeks profit in 4 chargebacks. luckily the first 2 where from the same person and paypal decided in my favour then as a freak accident the 2 after where from another person and i was sent an email by paypal out of the blue saying they were unauthorized card use incidents and that my account will not be debited as i qualified for seller protection. all sounds good:) until i realised that the amounts had indeed been deducted!!! then when i ring paypal and argue it out with them for 20 minutes the guy finally reads the emails and realises that paypal can be sued for the money back into my account and says he will speak to a manager and then ring me back.....

20 minutes later i get a phone call from the guy saying the amounts will be refunded to my account:dance::niceone:

so know he advises that to be covered in the future i have to post every code out at my own cost of £1.14 per code!! as i only make £4 profit on a 12 month code and if i sell a 1 month code i basically will make the cost of postage I am forced either to sell just the 12 month codes or find a cart solution that will protect me from chargebacks for digitally delivered goods! is there a cart/service that will do this or is it time to throw in the towel and start trading in tangible goods???

the last few days have been quite frustrating and a little bit depressing to be honest so any help you guys can offer would be great:cool:

This is prompted by a phonecall I had over the weekend from a friend who is doing a similar thing to me.

We got talking about working out paypal fees and it soon became apparent that I was paying less then him in Paypal fees.

I've looked around here and a lot of people are talking about 3.4% which is the standard fee however it is possible to get your fees down.

Once you cross a certain threshold you are eligible to receive the "merchant rate", however in true paypal style this is not automatic and has to be applied for.

Log into your paypal account and type into the help/search bar "merchant rate" this will take you to a page which will tell you more.

If you are accepted (not hard) then it will come into effect immediately.

hopefully this will save some of you some money.

although not massive - it all adds up.
