Default Search function s--ks..

Im sorry but the search function on this board is AWFUL.

The only way it works is if you type the complete search phrase.

Example, a thread called www.google.com, cannot be found if you type google in the search box.

You must type in www.google.com.

I agree.

James, maybe you could have a look at the search function? It is tbh "useless"..

I find that sometimes the "advanced search" doesn't work either..

I will see what can be done, but I am guessing it is standard to the software.

Will look into it

That will be the case because the search function is looking for the specific word, whereas in the example the specific word is www.google.com (no spaces causes that issue). Forum software searches are no where near as comprehensive as say a SE search function.

Just the way things are, its possible to update the search abilities of forums but it is major scale programming work and frankly easy for people to learn to search properly using forum search basics not what we call basics now due to SE searchability..

Hope that made sense.

Mike

Maybe there is a mod that addresses this situation?

I've never had a problem with this search function but I have had problems with other forums when you can't include words that are less than 4 characters long. That just winds me up!
