You beat me to it. It might also connote an "assumed requirement" to assist others. Even if not true, some may expect they are entitled to the help, simply because they are also forum members.

While I appreciate being named, I personally don't think much of the idea. I do what I can, when I can, but I'd hate to feel obligated.

Its possible if a lawyer wanted to be pedantic and he could convince the client..... but extremely unlikely provided it stated somewhere that comments were just opinions, which in the main they are...
But I was thinking about the original question as I was doing my Moby **** impersonation in the pool..... I can see the incentive advantage for the newer members.... something to aim for or achieve.... which will perhaps persuade them to take a more active part in the forum
I cant see the people nominated [me included] being interested in the title.... I think that they come here to join in the discussions.... offer what help and advice they can.... share their experiences.... and as advertisers.... sell their wares.... and I dont see any reward scheme or incentive changing that... but I could be wrong... and obviously I dont speak for everyone..... so Im saying.... yet again.... I dont know

Perhaps the title mentor is wrong... it suggests to me personal tutoring or private advice and guidance..... [or a city of notheast Ohio... sorry ]... which I think would be a grave mistake
