The principle is the same yes(i.e. you are buying console games to sell for a profit), but they are very different.

The assasin offers prices of actual wholesalers, that seems to be the biggest difference.

So how does the average price work it out? Is that the average price people list for on ebay or the average selling price, that actually sell?

Also the Amazon average price is not really that much use as you nearly always have to be the cheapest on there to sell.

To put it as bluntly as I can:
what game assassin does is gathers pricing data from all different Gaming suppliers big and small so that users can quickly find the cheapest supplier and also compare it to the current selling price on ebay and amazon so they can see if they is a profit to be made and if there is then how much they can expect to make.

The average price on ebay is calculated from (up to) the next 50 ending buy it now auctions for that item.
