Warning-- tourist traps in China!
I read this from Chinadaily.com.cn
==================================
There is a serious problem with hawkers in Shanghai. Chinese ladies pretending to be English students trying hard to learn English, invite tourists (mainly single male) for a talk to local coffee shops of their choice, where the naive tourists are charged exorbitant prices for their food and drinks (food and drinks are ordered by those ladies behind the backs of unsuspected tourists). If the customer refuses to pay, he is threatened and forced to use his credit card to pay. With limited Chinese language ability the foreign customer has little chance to refuse.
Here is an address of one of such places, where I was “robbed” of 3395 RMB for four cups of tea and other drinks ordered by those unscrupulous “students”:
Sundy Coffee, No. 558 7th Floor, east Nanjing Road, Shanghai
Never go there - even with your relative!:
=================================
It is a shame, more and more people became money-digger, even the Chinese young students. Such kinda tourist trap was happened exactly same on my client lately when he's in Guiling, one of the most beautiful tourist places in China. He was charged thousands of RMB for just two cups of tea.
It is a new fraud happened in lots of tourist resort in China, aiming at the SINGLE traveled MALE foreigner.
Warning: NEVER NEVER goes with any strangers (especially those looked like innocent Chinese young ladies) to a place you do not know. You may be hacked or trapped in a big trouble!!

If really there's any bad things happened while you can't handle, I would suggest you call "110". (Chinese police emergency help line).

The Chinese police are very good, I got set upon by a group of taxi drivers in Beijing. Phoned 110 but there wasn't an English speaker so hung up, a few minutes later a load of police cars and vans and atleast 20 cops turned up.
As for the women of peoples park its all good fun, I met a Canadian who was happy it happened to him because atleast he got to spend the afternoon with two good looking girls.

Sorry to hear that guys, these things do happen around. Cheaters are everywhere, take good care of yourself when you're abroad. It's all about money...
Well what can I say, there're still many good people in China, pay more attention to check out before believing him/her. Takes time but it worth.
Guys if you need I might be of a litte help form the other side of your MSN.

Talking about trick, there're tons of scam tricks happened everyday in China: mobile phone scams, education scams, internet scams, finance scams, marriage scams...one village in China was notorious for mobile phone scams, as the whole village, every family send out fake mobile phone messages to trick money.
It is a shame!

Yeah, but most likely, just keep yours eyes open and your senses sharp, most scammers in china are not very clever and use similar patterns. If a good looking chinese girl comes up to you and starts talking to you for no reason, well, your alarm bells should already be ringing than.
