Yiwu - Commodity City
Has anyone been to Yiwu before ?
I am going on Tuesday, i am expecting it to be like the other Chinese markets, full of low quality, and extremely cheap items.. but hopefully i will find some decent things.
Any advice if you have been before.. would be good.
For those who dont know about Yiwu:
Yiwu is famous in China as a commodities center. People from all over the world come to Yiwu City to buy commodities for resale in other parts of China or abroad. Yiwu's China Small-Commodity Market has for 6 consecutive years topped China's 100 top open markets and was for successive years listed as China's civilized open market. It has been named as the banner of China's market economy and with a large variety of quality but cheaper commodities, the market has become a shopping paradise for tourists.
Yiwu is also known as the "sock town" as it produces over three billion pairs of socks for Wal-Mart, Pringle and Disney annually. Yiwu is also known as China's number one producer of fashion jewelry.

Have been there once. If you're looking for dollar goods, go to yiwu, but not for any high quality products.

atleast they have the fast train to yiwu now.
I used to go to Yiwu quite a lot but to be honest all the stuff is just crap quality. Its also to big and is filled with vendors selling the exact same products as the person next door so them so you walk round loads of booths only to see the same old rubbish time and time again.
Products in Yiwu are all to cheap and nasty, not really good for exporting to the UK in my opinion. Hence, you will notice this by the other forigners you see there, you will see what i mean!
There is a good section for Taiwan owned factories.
PM me ill tell you where to go

Hi,
Maybe i was a little harsh on poor old Yiwu, artificial flowers and some other stuff like pens, pencils, hair bands, socks! etc Are ok to buy from Yiwu. But anything that has moving parts or needs batteries etc i would really stay away from. We supply artificial flowers to Australia from a factory in Yiwu.
I must have been to Yiwu about 10 times. Lots of jewelery, some is good but even simple stuff like that can be really bad quality, having said that yet again, things like beeds plastic rings etc you cant really go wrong.

And there are plenty of people happy to buy and sell cheap crap.
