Ez all,

Clearly noone is going to send anyone elses way where they buy stuff from, but how to even begin looking? I have in mind the sort of thing I am looking to buy into for a particular sport, and google spews out pages of rubbish lol.

Any advice for a complete amateur?

try your product + wholesale or distributor in a google search. You could always post in the wanted section - someone maybe able to source the product for you.

There are loads of places to look besides Google.

Are you looking for branded or unbranded products? If branded, I’d advice contacting the brand owners directly and asking for the details of their authorized distributors. Or if unbranded, I’d highly recommend looking for suppliers in one of the various directories of manufacturers (I personally prefer Global Sources and Alibaba).

It’s also worth looking at The Wholesale Directory, as there are a number of sports equipment wholesalers on there.

yup. global sources is a real goldmine of genuine sources. Better than any paid list for my money. ( and I guard my money very closely)
