Most, if not all people on here are interested in electronics, mobiles etc. just because they have a high profit margin, easy to sell etc. resulting in very little work for say £20 profit per item. But as there are so many other sellers of these products and the market is extremely saturated and full of scams you cant sell as many of these items especially due to the high purchase cost unless you were dropshipping.

Would (or do) any of you sell items of lower value that were only making £1/2 profit per item, but selling hundreds of these items a day? Everyday, obviously a lot of your time would be spent packaging, sorting these items etc. but the hard work would result in a bigger profit.

I don't sell electronic items. I sell items that are low cost and I make from a few quid to £10 on each item, however I am not selling hundreds per day!

'electronics items have high profit margins'

Have I missed something or been buying badly all of these years? Electronics has some of the lowest margins in retail!

I have never had an interest in electronics, never shipped them, imported them or sold them. Although I have done a little computer stuff in my time [chip/card/prog writing etc]
I sold hand crafted/natural/wood/bone/furniture/decorative/carved items etc..... layout was a lot lower and margins a lot higher... I even had my own line manufactured.
Some of the decorative items I sold retailed for over £400.... netting approx 300%
Some furniture items were solid teak and retailed in excess of £500.... 400% mark up on buying price
My wife says she is getting bored sitting at home and taking a holiday every 3 months and wants me to set her up doing similar things.... so who knows

Electronics do not have high margins. Rather than be a busy fool, I would prefer to sell a few high value items than a hundred low value items

Couldn't possibly tell from looking at their website. It would depend on how many parcels they put out and how many people (read profit sucking overhead) they employ to pack all those parcels. For example, if they are putting out 100 phone covers per day and making a pound on each one. They may have to employ two guys to pick, pack, label and post. Therefore, the £100 profit they are making will be reduced by, say £70 in wages so those two guys total work output will generate thirty quid profit.
The large items that I sell make £50 - £80 EACH and I can pack it myself in 5 mins - who's the busy fool? I ask YOU?

There are certain exceptions in any market. However compare that to selling plasma TV's where box shifters work off about 4% net.

Horses for courses, but find me any company making money selling plasmas and I can find you 30 just about solvent and another 30 who's MD has just has their house prepossessed.

It's all about the bottom line. Anyone with a bit of clout can sell £50m worth of branded electronics. Sounds good doesn't it? They gross about £1M. Not bad? However they net about 100k. Hmmm not so good!
