Default Better Business Bureau

I have researched several companies that are registered with the BBB. I was wondering how safe everyone considered companies registered with the BBB. What guidelines does a company have to follow to become a member of the BBB? Any insight would be great.

Unless they have been in business for a while I really don't think it is very useful. It looks good and it says they have registered somewhere but all it does is give a place for complaints to be lodged and collected. So if it is a new company they wouldnt have had time probably to have done anything for anyone to complain about. Now if it is someone who has been around and has been a member and you can call and check and there are few to no complaints then it is a very good thing. But for new companies I don't think it is much use for verifying their worthiness. IMO

Thanks for the input. That's what I was thinking. I guess if they don't have any complaints a while after the holiday season (aka scammer season) they should be legit (or at least worth checking out some more). Thanks again.

Yeah, pay their dues! Actually they are pretty much a rip-off. It's like pay dues and we'll give good reports, don't join and we will spread the word.

There have been a number of documented cases of them "losing" negative reports as soon as someone joined. There has also been some court cases and such.

They are a business, not a government agency, and they are in business for the same reasons we are - to make money.
