yesterday i noticed that there isn't 1 ipod or xbox 360 listing anywhere on the alibaba site. no selling leads and no product listings at all. there are listings for accessories and addons to them but none actually selling the console or the mp3 player. so i decided to see what was stopping all the scammers from infesting alibaba with their B#@#$%IT scams. i tried listing some xbox 360's and ipod nanos. everything went fineand it said product listed just like normal. then the next day i got this email from them:

"Dear seller,

Thank you for submitting your Trade Lead "Sell xbox 360 US premium " to Alibaba.com.

Since the Trade Lead you submitted contains information relating to a third party's patent, trademark or copyright and may subject you to potential infringement claims, we request that you provide us with valid documentation evidencing that you are authorized to use the patent, trademark or copyright contained in the Trade Lead before we determine whether the Trade Lead submitted by you can be published.

If you are authorized to use the patent, trademark or copyright contained in the Trade Lead or to sell or distribute the products described in the Trade Lead on behalf of the patent/trademark/copyright owner, please reply to this email with complete and valid supporting documentation.

If you have any further questions you can visit our online Help Center or contact our Customer Service Team directly at alibaba@alibaba-inc.com.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Alibaba Editing Team
Email: editing@alibaba-inc.com"

i just thought id let you all know and see what you think.

so legit wholesalers cant sell anymore ipods on alibaba since they need apple authorisation which only the retailers have. the scammers went (well mostly) but they took the legit suppliers with them. a clear case of "the good went out with the bad". if we do see any ipod or xbox listings on alibaba theyll be asking for alot of money, probably just a few dollars under retail. its times like this that make you appreciate having this forum.

thanks alot guru

Well I think Alibaba took the easy way out. Instead of some form of regulation they banned it entirely.

Alibaba IMHO is worthless. EC21 and exporters are better.

No alibaba isn't safer. Just because you can't advertise certain name brand products on there doesn't make it safe. And I'm sure it was done from being pressured by MS and Apple not out of their good nature towards us.

Alibaba is worst. I haven't met any SINGLE person who I can trust. Instead, I have reported almost ten scammers for a month. Those damn scammers wasted my precious time. The number of scammers on that site seems to increase. Just my feeling from one-month lesson. NEVER USE!!!
