Does the AliBaba Gold Member standard mean anything?????

The reason I ask is because i have seen posts on this forum abt gold members that turn out to be scammers, does that mean that the standard is just superficial?

yes i believe superficial is the right word, all gold member means is that they have paid an extra bit of money to have that status!

It means they paid more than the other alibaba members. Everything is for sale there.

You can't relay on that alone BUT if the supplier is Gold Member on his 5th year for example, it's sure a good sign to make further investigation.

On the other hand, if the supplier has free, basic membership - don't waste your time with further research.

its really just a paid membership as opposed to a free membership.... gives you certain privileges on the site but does not mean you are any better than the free members

You can get a Alibaba Gold Member Ship, i can get and all over the world.
You can get a gold member ship with 1year, 2 years and 5years.

Money is the key. You pay much more how a chinese company but you are gold member.
But all this isn`t enough, you have to pay again that your profil listed under the first 10.

All gold members are fakes in my eyes.

1. Sell Fakes
2. Sell refurbished with copy parts but say all is original (we are one of the largest supplier )
3. No goods after receive the money.

Why all buyer looking by alibaba first? Go to your trde directory or make holiday in china, usa, etc. und look for your new supplier. By alibaba you spend many times and money.

I deal with 2 Alibaba Gold members. They both:

1. Don't sell fakes
2. Don't sell refurbished goods
3. Send out goods after payment is made

Sure, Gold Membership is just one thing to take into consideration BUT you can't say that everyone on Alibaba is a scammer.

Just don't try to source iPods, PS3's and similar items there.
