Default Example Penalty for Trading in Counterfeit Goods

This is a Warning for any U.S residents trading in couterfeit merchandise.
Mite want to think again before taking the plunge.
Talking about anything that is cheap but has high profile brand names on the product such as Nike,Sony,Apple,Gucci, prada, everlast, rolex, oakley Need i say more?
Go ahead and order the products but if you become a high volume seller of these products eg: wholesaler or large scale ebayer etc etc chances are you will attract attention of the authorites and be busted just like these guys.

Check the maximum penalties (these guys will prolly get at least 7 years behind bars)
Glad i dont do it

People who are in the apparel e-business for a few years might know the case of Movie Critique.Hereunder you can read how he ended up.

However, nowadays big scammers such as AnnieBwholesale and Trinity Distribution (might operate with a different name now) don't carry stock, and thus can't be caught, as there doesn't exist any evidence.

They are brokering the goods from their counterfeit producers located in India (and other countries). No physical stock = no evidence.

Agent seizes counterfeit clothing

From Staff Reports

RALEIGH -- A special agent with the N.C. Secretary of State's Office seized hundreds of counterfeit items, including oxford shirts, T-shirts and assorted Ralph Lauren tags from a central Raleigh home Thursday, according to a search warrant.

The state office received a complaint in August that an Ebay auctioneer with the handle "caseyjonesinc" had sold several counterfeit Ralph Lauren Polo shirts, according to the search warrant returned Friday. Special Agent J. Jason Daniels received the shirts, and the clothes were found to be fake.

Blazer Investigations, a Concord detective firm, worked with the state officials on the case and bought a shirt on Ebay from a woman named Elizabeth Cohen who used "caseyjonesinc" as her Ebay seller's name, according to the search warrant. Cohen has not been charged with a crime.

The private investigator discovered the Nike polo shirt he bought was a fake, according to the search warrant.

Then, he asked Cohen about buying more clothes and Cohen referred the detective to Dan Damato at Damy Fashions, according to the search warrant. Blazer Investigations placed an order in November and December with the fashion business that listed its address as 2602 Wayland Drive in Raleigh.

Investigators also learned that Damato was selling items on an on-line auction site under the name of "djdamato."

Officials also learned that a woman named Amy Jones was working with Damato's clothing business.

Neither Damato nor Jones has been charged with a crime.

Daniels searched the Wayland Drive home Thursday and found 625 shirts with Ralph Lauren Polo tags, 34 knit LaCoste shirts, 23 Nike shirts, 37 oxford shirts with Armani tags and assorted Ralph Lauren tags, according to the search warrant.
