Default Handy tips for approaching suppliers for the first time??

I am in the process of starting my own online business. I’ve registered with www.companieshouse.gov.uk and having a website developed. Now I just need to buy some stock!! I've identified the suppliers I would like to use, however I‘m interested in seeking advice/guidance on how I can approach them best. I've heard that some suppliers require VAT numbers or company registration numbers to qualify you in the first instance. How else can I prepare for the initial contact with the supplier, any handy tips anyone?

Any suggests would be a great help!
Many thanks!

Best Advice

Be honest... They understand there's new businesses and maybe you don't have a VAT number yet, or maybe Sole-Traders...etc etc

Phone them up, say this is where you are, this is what you want and how much can they do it for...

They need to sell, as much as you need to buy.
