How Do They Know?!?!

I recently set up an ebay account to sell a few personal items on ebay. I set up my new account and listed a few things that I wanted to sell and a few days later my account was suspended. I set up the account and listed the items on a friends computer who is currently suspended.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe they linked me to his account because I was using the same computer he used when he was using ebay. How can they tell what computer I am logging in from? Or what do they look for within your computer to be able to tell it is the same computer? Any help would be much appreciated.

IP address are likely recorded. Everytime you log onto a website it's easy to find out where you are. Log onto http://whois.ws/ and right there, it says your IP address on it.

They are probably tracking the IP address.

But doesn't your internal and external IP address change periodically? I was doing the work on a laptop computer, but I wasn't using the same internet connection my friend used. I was doing most of the work at home. Thanks for your help

Ebay have obviously picked up the IP address from your friends PC that you used to setup your account. You can try talking to them at Live Chat and explaining the situation.
