This week marks the start of holiday buying season for retail. The next two weeks is when retail buyers start looking at holiday forecasts and begin planning their open to buy for holiday time. Goals of getting the merchandise out on the floor a week before thanksgiving.

What is this holiday season going to be like?

Totally agree!!!

Crisis, crisis, crisis - ahhhh - mad shoppers are mad shoppers and I don't think much will change this year. Yeah, maybe they won't spend that much individually but then again, number of people using internet for online shopping grows steadily so overall volume will even increase.

I doubt you will see any records being broken this year, but I think a lot of people will leave it to the last minute (more than usual) and perhaps even hold off on large purchases until the new year pending massive reductions and sale discounts.

It's an interesting year this one. Has the recession recovered at just about the right time? Or is the whole talk of 'recovery' all a bit premature?

Thoughts?

People prepare their big holiday for Christmas Day now. They will buy some home decorations and gifts in this period.
