It's hard to do business worldwide now these days.
Let's discuss: What is the most profitable business at your end?

In my opinions, real estate (housing) is the most profitable business in my city. According official statistics in my city, more than 5560 flats were sold during Sep 27-- Oct 10, 2009 (the so called 'Gold Time') owing to the National Day hoiday in China. The housing price is growing fast in China these years. If you invested 10000 GBP in my city in 2005, now you can get more than 50000 GBP. I cannot believe it, it's crazy now!

Food! everybody needs it to survive, the rest is a need, you dont have to buy clothes, they can be made, you dont need electronics they are a luxury

Housing is a "has been" business in this country for now anyway.

Unless your buying to rent, where there is always demand as alot of young people especially find it harder in this country to get on the property ladder with the global nonsense going on.

Gone are the days of buying a house for x amount doing it up and selling for y amount.

Yes, I work in mortgages, unluckily for me at the moment, but the UK infatuation of owning property, it certainly is the best investment over time. Having said said, boom is always followed by bust expecially as a lot of real estate or just pesonal investors have found out in recent times

i always think that (providing you play your cards right) bricks and mortar is always one of the best investments over the long term, thats the reason why my parents managed to retire early, through their investments in property, the almost make money doing nothing, apart from obviously the odd difficult tennant etc!

A profitable business isn't determined by the category it falls in, its determined by the individual or group behind the business. Its people that make the money not the business sectors.

Property used to be a good business to be in but that was as much about luck as it was anything else. No one could have predicted there would be such a boom.

Yes because the level of profitability on an item is determined by its need to the human race...

By that logic water is the most profitable item and luxuries are the least profitable... rofl
