Re: So what did you do before you became an Entrepreneur?
I design licensed merchandise (mainly for bands) and have been doing it for 20 yrs now (scary), I first got involved in selling online when I was asked to set up some stores for bands, prob around 7/8 yrs ago. The company I was working for closed it's doors 3 yrs ago and I basically took the online work with me - I'll never work for the 'man' again.

Re: So what did you do before you became an Entrepreneur?
from school i went to collage to train to be a beutician, then worked in a salon but soon became fed up of how much i was being paid in relation to how much money i brought into the business so set up my own beauty salon whick i still have but i started to really enjoy the retail side of it so have just set up a second business selling dresses, jewellery, bags and anything girly! the two tie in well together as i can pick up new customers for one business from the other! wild horses couldnt drag me back to work for someone now!

I was a male stripper, went by the name "Dancin' Don.
The government forced me to retire when I turned 65, so here I am on the net.

Re: So what did you do before you became an Entrepreneur?
left school at 16 and worked in a warehouse for a clothing factory which produced football strips for le coq sportif. That closed down when i was 21 so went to another warehouse that manufactured CD's, crap pay, crap hours so left there after 6 months to work in a warehouse for a transport company.Crap pay but the warehouse was "offsite" from the main depot so once i had done all my work on the forklift you could sit around and be a lazy git and watch telly etc. Also the amount of backhanders we used to get off the customers was great. I went almost 4 months without touching my wage in the bank due to little favours and selling pallets etc. OK, i still lived at me mams at the time so wasnt paying out much in bills apart from my car and mobile but still, 4 months without touching your wage was bloody good for saving me holiday money. Was there for a few years then i got promoted to supervisor and had to move warehouse (closer to home though) but it was pretty much the same set up as the last one although nowhere near as many backhander opportunities. In summer 06 the company started closing down warehouses so they offered me a health and safety role because i had much better qualifications than the others apparently. Didnt fancy an office job but they promised loads of training and visits to other depots etc but that never materialised so i was unhappy. I had a few days off "sick", well a week actually but when i went back my boss who i did not know was a darts fan, had spotted me on the telly when the premier league darts was at the newcastle arena whilst i was on the sick. We had a barny, fell out and in the end i told him to stick it and left to go to royal mail. Was there 6 days short of a years service, left there and worked for a sub contracter doing french polishing restoration work at he De Vere hotels (slaley hall, oulton hall etc) but left after 6 month as my daughter wasnt very old and i didnt really like working away. Got a great job back in a warehouse working only 4 days yet getting paid 6 and a half grand a year more than when i was a supervisor but got laid off in nov 08. That was the first time i had ever signed on the dole. I couldnt believe how hard it was to find work as i had never had a problem getting another job before. Got a call to go back to the job i got laid off from, went back then the work started to dry up again and the boss started being a ******** and looking for excuses to bollock people so he could get rid. Although i didnt bite i eventually got finished again at the end of june this year and i havent found any work since. Ive being selling on ebay since 05 and ive stepped it up a lot since june by selling off a lot of old stock i had but thats running out now and if i cant source anything else to sell, i will be signing on the dole again until i do find something
