Re: What % off RRP is suitable for Wholesale
Agreed, niche means nothing as everything has its own niche, the only difference is that some products have bigger niches than others.

Re: What % off RRP is suitable for Wholesale
The structure above makes sense as its better profit when sell 1000pcs a day with smaller margin than sell 10pcs with high. When you have a factory you cant be selling small quantities as you have people employed and need to pay them wages etc. and lot more expenses to be paid so you need cash circulation. The factory needs big turnover thats why it goes through distribution channells would be totally unwise to manufacture something and retail it unless you have huge cash to invest in retail points adverts etc whole infrastructure would cost you too much. Maybe brands like sony could do it ,but still needs huge investment. About well there are some products with higher demand than other products and some products in which there isnt many people involved ,but usually when there's huge demand on something market gets flooded quickly and price goes down .... i have seen products selling for 20 after 3 months they have been sold for 5 which made pepople no profit at all. You have to be carefull with these do market research every week or even every day. For me you can call any products niche but good niche depends on demand and turnover.
So gettin back to the topic what products do You manufacture/wholesale ?

Re: What % off RRP is suitable for Wholesale
Fair comments on "niche" and may well be me just using the word.
As for the product.
It is a Boundary marker safety system which provides an alternative to electric lighting.
There is a crystal compound inside the lens that when exposed to daylight for a period of time will emit light for up to 29 hours.
Tests carried out show that after 8 minutes of exposure to daylight or artificial light the glow will last for 12hours.
No running costs, not radioactive, fully biodegradable and meets EU standards.
Independent temperature testing carried out and was found that the plastic lens began to melt at 140 degrees farenheit and complete degradation of the lense occured at 170.
However the actual compound continued to glow for a further 14 hours and was still visable.
Now this is certainly one of the uses we have in mind for the product.
We had a letter in from a company in Kenya. There was a supermarket fire that was apparently triggered by failure of the shop’s generator switch– over circuit, when a power black-out occured. There were fatalities in the incident as shoppers had not been able to find their way safely to the exits. As the generator backup failed there was no electrical lighting.
Lots of other uses for the lens and product, marine safety, hospitals, commercial buildings etc.
We have one product manufactured and two others waiting.

Re: What % off RRP is suitable for Wholesale
Hi Glowmark!
I hope you do not see my comment in a negative note, it never been my intention to make any comment in this site unless it is constructive and positive. I have seen similar products to yours (including in Dragon`s Den), so for that reason I am struggling to understand what part is the "nich product market"? Do you honestly think that there is nothing similar to your product out there? Please do not take my words for it, go out there and do a good research by yourself.........

Re: What % off RRP is suitable for Wholesale
It's not a consumer product, its an industrial product.Your wholesale markup is going to be completely different.
