Selling of fakes in shops
While working away , i had a little bit of time off , so decided to look round the shops , to my horror i found in the front shop window a lacoste tracksuit which was fake , i couldn't believe my eyes , just how bad the fake was , how do shop owners get away with it,.
Which brings me on to another point just how often does it happen in shops ?

Fair enough - Wouldn't proof of buying the "fake" item from the seller and then showing the receipt to trading standards along with the item be proof enough?

What would be the point? You would be wasting your money buying a fake (money that you won't get back).

Good idea Anthony, buying the fake is the best proof you can get.
EDIT: If the item is sold as authentic, you can have it checked, and if it is fake you have the right to demand authentic goods, so you will get your money back. It is probably not worth it, but every little bit helps.
The problem with the fakes is lack of knowledge, both from the buyers side and sometimes the sellers side. Most buyers are not able to spot fakes, because they don´t deal with them so often. Some sellers still believe that the stuff they sell is real, just because the person or company they purchased it from told them so, even if it is fake.
There are of course sellers who knowingly sell fakes, just because of the profit. Someone should do something about these people, because it is way too easy for them to continue doing what they do.
Both buyers and sellers would ideally need to be better educated in spotting fakes. But thats probably not gonna happen. But there must be greater awareness that authentic goods have their price. They are not dirt cheap, and when buying fakes you get inferior quality. I could go on about this forever (as I have done in other threads), but fakes have to be stopped. Fakes destroy the market, the prices and even jobs.
