Default Importing From China Better???

I am thinking of importing from china instead, thats coz the person you buy from here will also import them as well so he is making profit. Does any one know how the over all charge is calculated - like tax, customs charges etc.

But in some ways it maybe cheaper cos the person importing will buy huge quantities so you will get a better price?????

[. Does any one know how the over all charge is calculated - like tax, customs charges etc.

Add aprox 30% to the total .This will cover VAT 17.5% customs import duty 6% aprox ( depending on what you are importing ) and the rest to cover theft & damages . The VAT & customs duty is also payable on all shipping charges .

if a person is VAT registered, can the VAT be claimed back on such an import?

Each item has a 10 digit code that you get from Customs. You put this on your import documents and it relates to a specific tax code.

Thanks mate, but the thing is from my expreience, I have emailed a lot of manufaturers and if you're buying small then its not much use you aint gona make any profit at the prices they give you, you need to make a big order say £1000, then you get them cheap.

I checked the tarric code (i've done my homework), and its 2.5% so 2.5% + 17.5% = 0.20% which is not so bad but then you need to have insurance on it just in case they get lost, and also secure storage facilites once they get here, so I won't be ordering uless I order big quantities say 400/500+

I hope any one else thinking of doing the same can use this.
