Hi,

I have started up a new website selling playstation 3's and psp etc from Japan.

Do i need any insurance to cover my back or any thing eles.

If for example a ps3 blew up and injured the customer, they would try and sue me.

What would you recommened?

If a PS3 blew up, they would sue Sony. If they did sue you, you would have to pay for legal representation - which most insurance wouldn't cover anyway.

So would you recommend not worrying about buying insurance as a start up company. " being a limited company is that your personal liability is zero "
thats a quote from another thread. Does that mean they cannot sue you if they even tried. If so does anyone know how much it costs and the requirements to setting up a limited company?

I believe that means the most that could happen is you could be fined from company earnings or at worse your company shut down. I.E. no money could be taken from your personal accounts /house/cars .

It's different in different cases though, if a ps3 blew up it would probably make world news.

have a read of this: http://www.startups.co.uk/Public_and...V5olmdKEA.html

you would only really be liable for personal injuries at your premises. If you only sell via the net then that would not apply to you.

for a faulty product the manufacturer will be held liable.

I'm not sure about the UK, but in the U.S., anyone can sue you for any reason.
