Why do you want your customer to pay the costs?

The solution to this transaction is in your answer to my question

Because if my customer pays the vat at point of import they have the ability to claim it back.

I cannot see any legal restraint to this. let me know if their is one?

We have registered to VAT to make ourselves competitive to other sellers which sell for other companies who can claim VAT or for EU-import in fact do not pay any VAT.

And by the way for business material you also can claim back VAT anyways, so you would counterbalance your difference for little less profits, I think...
