How Do I Give Tax ID if Sole Trader

It looks like a lot of wholesalers-especially in the USA require a busines tax id but as a sole trader I do not have this.

Can someone shed any light on how to prove to a Wholesaler you are a real business if you are just a sole trader in the UK? What information do we give as most wholesaler website as for the state tax id.

Just explain to them as you are a sole trader you don't have one.
