Default doing a import export course

Hello Everyone,

My first post.

I have been coming to this website for the last 3 months. Like alot of people on here i have no experience in this field but i would like to get into it. More specifically i would like to learn about import export.

I have been searching for a beginners course in import export for a while now. Most of them are too expensive or to specific. However i have come accross a chinese organisation in london that do the course.

The price is £200 for 2 hours a day, once a week for 10 weeks. I phoned them last week and they said they will need a certain number of students to start the course. I think this is the first time they are doing the course. Below is there course description

Introduction to Export / Import Documentation and ProcedureThis course is suitable for those interested in developing an import-export business or seeking employment in international trade.
The course includes: Incoterms 2000; Bills of Lading; Air Waybills; Certificate of Origin; Preferential Trading EURI, ATRI; Controlling your freight costs, Air and Sea; Marine Insurance; Methods Insurance; Methods of Payment; Letters of Credit; Bills of Exchange; Cash against Documents; Understanding the Tariff Book; Import Entries; Customs regimes; Sourcing suppliers and buyers.

The institution has links with Middlesex University so im sure it is a decent place.

The place is really like a chinese learning centre where people can learn about chinese culture, language etc as they do courses in this area.

If you are interested in this course PM and i will give you the web details and then you can call them up yourself.

I am in NO WAY affiliated with this organisation and i have only phoned them once.

Regards

Alf

I think there is no harm in doing the course

Personally you will probably learn more the hard way i.e. starting with small imports by air and then sea. Also there are 100 of resources on the internet which can give you advice and terminology etc.

Everything you need to know will crop up from time-to-time and I think that is the best way to learn in my opinion.

greedyboy thanks for the advice.

I'd like to do the course because i have Zero experiance in importing and exporting. I have bought a few books which are really usefull but its never going to be the same as some one that has done it before, teaching you in a class.

I know learning the hard way is the best way but for some one like me its scary specially after reading about all those con stories.

iqbal786 they plan to start in september.
