Anyone know the payment terms for EMS import tax? Is it payment on delivery? Do they accept cash/cheque?

EMS is delivered via Parcel Force in the UK and you usually pay the driver or the depot before you get the goods.

You will be charged VAT, duty and their admin charge.

At the end of the day you pay the charges. You can not have you cake and eat it too unfortuantely.

Hey! It wasn't me who was trying to evade the tax.

And do they accept cash? As I have no credit/debit card.

Thanks.

ok greedy boy thanks alot, my supplier is over quoting shipping cost for some reason as they told me ems 1 - 2 weeks would be around £13.

It may be a mistake or it may be handeling charges.

I get confused easily

Yes I believe they accept cash at the depot, I am not sure if the drivers do. It's been a long time since I have used EMS because they are 'not very good' to be polite!

Also what price should I advise my supplier to write on the package for customs to avoid any nasty tax?
hallo there andy. I am based in UK but currently having a one month trip in Hong Kong.

I can tell you that 11-15GBP is far far too expensive to ship anything weight of a console.

you are quite right 4-5GBP should be more than enough.

if you need help, you can ask the seller to ship to me in Hong Kong than I can help to send it to you in UK.

Be VERY VERY CAREFUL with regard to import tax. I have heard a 30GBP product shipped from HK to UK got charged a 27GBP import tax before. good luck

Many of the Far East so-called 'wholesale' sites mark up the shipping by as much as 10 times to make their money.

They have a nice low price advertised but when you checkout you find you are paying a massive $20 a kilo for shipping by air.

That sounds about right. Remember most shipping companies have a standard admin/brokering fee of £10 - £15.
